Woodkid is one of the few French artists to have an international tour this year. The artist played at some wonderful venues like the Acropolis in Greece, Noches del Botánico in Madrid, and now at Vieilles Charrues in French Brittany. We had the chance to have a talk with him about his new show and his vision of music and art.
Vieilles Charrues is a big French Festival that takes place in 2021 for its 29th edition. As the festival generally hosts international artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Santana, and in 2023 Céline Dion, it has a very strong place in European Festival Culture. Therefore, Vieilles Charrues did not forget that the festival takes place in Brittany, a region with a strong identity. To understand it better, let's have a look at Brittany's culture.
Because of the COVID situation, Solidays in 2021 as we originally know it was one of the first festivals to cancel in France. The event should have taken place from 18 to 20 June 2021. Instead, there will be a special edition this year. On 4 July, there will be a replacement, "unexpected, free and reserved to women and men that work in the health sector. About ten artists are expected".
Some days are more stirring than other ones. On Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 June, Woodkid opened his summer tour at the Noches del Botánico, in Madrid, Spain. This show was intense for him, but for the audience as well, that came back to a show after more than a year.
A month ago, 5000 persons enjoyed a Love of Lesbian's concert at Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona, with no social distancing but with face masks. At the end of April 2021, the results are official. There was no covid cases due to the event. This is a great news for all the events in the music industry, and especially for festivals.
Spain, and particularly Barcelona, is a pioneer for culture in Europe. Some months ago, a concert-test was organised and no COVID cases were reported. Now, another big event is about to take place in Barcelona. Love of Lesbian will play for 5000 people on March 27, with no social distancing.
