Following the announcement of the upcoming induction of the band into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, The Cure ’s frontman Robert Smith has announced that the band’s first new album in 11 years will be released in 2019.
On Thursday, it was confirmed that The Cure will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Fame next year together with Def Leppard, Radiohead, The Zombies, Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson and Roxy Music.
In an interview given at SiriusXM, Robert Smith has announced that the band will also release a new album next year, while he revealed that he was mainly motivated by the artists he recruited for Meltdown festival in London this year. ”Primarily because of the Meltdown thing, seeing all these new bands inspired me to do something new”, is what Smith told during the interview.
Moreover, Robert Smith has also confirmed that the band’s 40th anniversary performance at Hyde Park band will also be released as a concert film soon.
The Cure will be touring across Europe next summer, as they are confirmed for a handful of festivals including Exit, Colours of Ostrava, INmusic, Mad Cool, Roskilde ,Rock Werchter, Ejekt Festival, Flow Festival and many more.

The Cure
The Cure are an English band from Crawley, West Sussex, and one of the most iconic groups still performing. Since the late 70s, they have delivered a unique sound, often qualified as post-punk or new wave. They have sold roughly 27 million records and received several nominations at the Grammy Awards and Brit Awards. They also won an MTV Video Music Award in 1992 for their anthem ‘Friday I’m In Love’. The Cure have released so far thirteen studio albums, ten EPs, and over thirty singles to date. In December 2017, it was announced that the Cure would perform a 40th anniversary concert at Hyde Park on July 2018 as part of the British Summer Time festival. The band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
