87 Glastonbury namen: Jack White, Elbow, Kasabian, Skrillex, Disclosure, Pixies e.a.
Glastonbury Festival heeft vanmorgen 87 verse namen toegevoegd aan het programma. Is de organisatie in staat om de indrukwekkende line-up van het afgelopen jaar te evenaren? Met onder meer Kasabian, Jack White, Elbow, Skrillex, Disclosure en Pixies presenteert Glastonbury de ‘kanonnen van 2014’.
Kasabian debuteert als headliner van de Pyramid stage op zondag 29 juni. De band uit Leicester is daarmee – naast de eerder bekend gemaakte komst van Arcade Fire op vrijdag – de tweede hoofdact van het festival. Daarmee lost organisator Michael Eavis zijn eerdere belofte betreft “fresh headliners” tot nog toe redelijk in. De headliner van de festival-zaterdag moet nog aangekondigd worden. In de wandelgangen worden daarvoor namen als Fleetwood Mac en Prince genoemd.
Michael’s dochter, Emily Eavis, over de boeking van Kasabian: “We always take great pride in putting a great British band on to headline the Pyramid and this time it’s Kasabian, who are one of the most requested bands from Glastonbury-goers and an amazing live act. It’s going to be one hell of a show!”
Andere stages worden aangevoerd door onder meer Skrillex (Other Stage), Disclosure (West Holts Stage), James Blake (Park), MGMT (John Peel Stage) en Richie Hawtin (Silver Hayes).
Met bijvoorbeeld Lana Del Rey, Chance the Rapper, Courtney Barnett, Bryan Ferry, Dexys, ESG and the Sun Ra Arkestra. Lil Louis, François Kervorkian en DJ Pierre kent het festival vele Glastonbury debutanten. “One of the great things for us about this year’s line up is that there are so many artists who have never played Glastonbury before, along with some of the most exciting new bands stepping up to play some of the big headline slots on main stages, like Skrillex and Disclosure,” aldus Emily Eavis.
Eerder kondigde Glastonbury al de komst aan van: Lily Allen, Disclosure, Dolly Parton, The Black Keys, Blondie, Lana Del Rey, Warpaint en Arcade Fire.
