Lana Del Rey closes Latitude 2019 with rare UK festival show
The sold out 2019 edition of Latitude Festival came to a close last night with a rare performance by the effortlessly cool Lana Del Rey, bringing her West Coast sounds to the East Coast of the UK.
Arguably the biggest draw at this years Latitude, Lana Del Rey hadn’t played in England for two years, with her last UK festival appearance being over five years ago at Glastonbury 2014. A huge crowd filled the Obelisk Arena to watch her 65-minute headlining set.
Music
Despite taking the stage twenty minutes late (and finishing five minutes early), the mostly young crowd, as always, went wild for Lana throughout the set. She played a career-spanning set from her first 2011 single ‘Video Games’, to her recently released cover of Sublime’s ‘Doin’ Time’.
Audience
The appreciative fans (who Lana spent a large portion of her headline set with on the front row signing autographs, collecting gifts, and taking selfies) cried and screamed throughout the set, in particular enjoying the lyric change of the ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’ single ‘Venice Bitch’ from “Life’s dream, I’m sweet for you” to “Livestream, send nudes to you”.

Latitude Festival 2019
Latitude started in 2006. Apart from live music artists, the family-friendly festival hosts a variety of art, poetry, carnival, and dance performances. Latitude won Best Major Festival of 2017 at the UK Festival Awards. In 2019, Latitude was headlined by George Ezra, Stereophonics and Lana Del Rey.
Latitude Festival will return to Henham Park in 2020, with Snow Patrol a likely headliner following the cancellation of their slot this year due to band illness.
